GREENVILLE - Robert F. McKnight, age 89, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 11:28 a.m. Dec. 30, 2012. at Sterling House.
He was born Nov. 3, 1923, in Darke County, Ohio, and the son of the late Harley (Bob) and Irene (Hollinger) McKnight.
Bob was a proud veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 2008 he took the Honor Flight to visit the WWII Memorial in Washington D.C. He was also a member of the Greenville Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Ansonia American Legion.
He and his wife were retired from 50 years of farming.
Bob is survived by his wife, Myrtle (Lindemuth) McKnight of Greenville. They have celebrated 65 years of marriage. Also his children Gail (Nancy) McKnight of Rossburg; Pam (Mark) Hierholzer of Ansonia and Robert Kim McKnight of Rossburg. His grandchildren, Jeremy McKnight and fiancé Lora; Ashley (Ryan) Rose; Molly (Mike) Jutte; Creighton Hierholzer; Adalynne Hierholzer and Kaela Hierholzer. Great-grandchildren Solomon Hierholzer; Thaddeus Hierholzer; Sara Jutte and Ava Rose. A sister Virginia Ullery of Silver City, N.M., and a brother Harold McKnight of Ansonia.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Greenville Veteran's Honor Guard will conduct full military services Friday at the funeral home.
