UNION CITY, Ind. - Walter M. "Wally" Day, age 77, of Union City, Ind., passed away at 10:55 a.m. April 9, 2014, at his residence.
Wally was born April 9, 1937, in Buffalo, N.Y., to the late Vernon "Bud" and Catherine (Sutter) Day.
Wally is survived by his wife, Paula (McEldowney) Day, whom he married Oct. 21, 2006; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Kress Day of Hamburg, N.Y,, and Scott and Nichole Day of Orchard Park, N.Y.; stepdaughter, Carrie Clemons of Union City, Ind.; and 10 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Wally is also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.
Wally served in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a retired restaurant manager.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Dennis Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles with military honors conducted by the Versailles Veteran's Honor Guard.
