Alice Beck Williams, 69, passed away on July 6, 2012 after battling cancer for the past several years.
At her death, she was surrounded by her immediate family - her husband Harvey Resnick, her two sons, Jonathan Williams and Alex Williams-Resnick with his fiancée, Staci Barnickel.
Alice was born in Dayton, Ohio, the oldest child of Harold and Thelma Beck. She grew up in Dayton and Darke County, and has lived in Connecticut for the past 30 plus years.
Alice lived a rich and rewarding life. Alice loved learning and graduated from Manchester College, followed by her receiving a master's degree from the School of Social Services at the University of Chicago. She had a full career having been director of social work in several hospitals over 30 years, and more recently had worked with the elderly in support of their independent living. She was sought after by both her colleagues and students as a mentor and a friend. Alice continued to work, a labor of love, until this past year.
She had many interests including gardening, music, politics and travel. Her travels included vacations throughout the United States and Europe, and to places in Russia, China and Africa. She was perhaps most of all strongly connected to family and friends, working to stay engaged and close with all those she loved, including both her family and her friends, even when geographic distances made it difficult. She was passionate about being near the sea, loved Nantucket and walks on the beach.
She leaves behind her loving mother, Thelma Beck of Bradford, Ohio, and her brothers and sisters, Dianna (Karl) Keller, Karen (Greg) Price, Harold (Barb) Beck, Mark Beck, and Denice (Bunny) Knick. She also leaves behind her many nieces and nephews, whom she cherished and enjoyed.
We will miss her sorely, even as she remains with us in all that she has given us and all the love she has shared with us.
