GREENVILLE - H. Samuel Grabeman, age 76, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 10:35 a.m. March 22, 2013, in the Rest Haven Nursing Home of Greenville.
Sam was born Nov. 8, 1936, in Dubois County, Indiana, and the son of the late Herbert and Meta (Hoffman) Grabeman.
Sam retired in 1999 from ABF Trucking of Dayton, Ohio. He had also worked for Carl Subler Trucking and Pohl Trucking, both of Versailles, Ohio. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Military Police Unit. He was also a member of the Kentucky Colonel.
A member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Greenville, the church choir and had been a member of a Barber Shop Singing Group. Sam, with his wife, Ruth, had enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 states as well as Hawaii and their trips to Europe.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth E. (Coulson) Grabeman, June 22, 2010. They were married Nov. 3, 1957.
Sam is survived by his sons, Allan Grabeman of Fishers, Ind., Daniel Grabeman of Portsmouth, Ohio; daughters-in-law, Janice Grabeman of Portsmouth and Kay Grabeman Eltzroth of Frankton, Ind.; grandchildren Katie Grabeman, Luke Grabeman, Jessica Grabeman and Mary Grabeman; sister and brother-in-law Grace and John Parmelee of Wilmington, Del., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. John Lutheran Church, 7814 State Route 121-North Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Alan Knoke officiating.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio, and on Tuesday one hour prior to the services in the church.
