ANSONIA - Hazel I. (Kyle) Johnson-Rearick, 82, of Ansonia, passed away on May 15, 2013 at her residence.
Hazel was born on June 13, 1930 in Muncie, Indiana to the late John and Gertrude (Raines) Kyle. In addition to her parents, Hazel is preceded in death by a husband, Edgar Rearick; son, Ronnie Jones; grandson Jason Sloan Rearick and a great-grandson, Isaiah Crowe.
Hazel worked in the mailroom at Purdue University during her life. She loved to attend sporting events of her children and grandchildren, watching T.V. and bowling. She was a girl scout leader when she was younger and loved spending time with her family.
Hazel is survived by daughters, Jenny and Bill Hawkey of New Madison and Kathryn and Brien Hiestand of Ansonia; sons, Jeff and Diana Rearick of Charlotte, N.C. and John and Lisa Rearick of Charlotte, N.C.; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; a special caregiver, Terri Creech; brothers, Ed and Sue Jones of Orleans, Ind., Mike and Lois Jones of Indianapolis, Ind. and Joe Raines and a sister Bibi and Ed King of Orleans, Ind.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Braund Pope Funeral Home in New Madison with Rev. Eric Fee being asked to officiate. Friends and family may visit on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow services in Greenmound Cemetery.
The family request memorial contributions be given to Heartland Hospice in honor of Hazel. Arrangements are entrusted to Braund Pope Funeral Home in New Madison. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.braundpope.com.
