James M. "Jim" Horne Jr.

UNION CITY, Ind. - James M. "Jim" Horne Jr., age 83, of Union City, Ind., passed away Sept. 30, 2013, at Reid Hospital, Richmond, Ind.

Jim was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., Dec. 24, 1929, to the (late) James M. Horne Sr. and Wilma (Sullivan) Horne Elliott; a U.S. Navy veteran; had previously worked at Union City Body Company, had painted greenhouses, and worked on power lines; and was an 11- year member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church, Union City, Ind.

Preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Cecil Elliott; son, Teddy Horne; two grandsons, James and Jamie Horne; stepdaughter and stepson, Barbara and Lonnie Abbott; and his pet dog, Lady.

Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margie L. (Craig) Horne; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Anita Horne of Union City, Ind.; stepson and wife, Gene and Margeretta Glidewell of Albany, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Roberteen and Jim Harris of Dubois, Ind., Stella and Don Denbo of French Lick, Ind.; stepbrother and wife, Bill and Carol Elliott of Indianapolis, Ind.; his favorite pet dog, Gunner; other relatives and friends.

Memorial service noon Saturday at the Calvary Assembly of God, Union City, Ind., with Pastor Sonny Pettie officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family at
