NEW MADISON - Jesse Junior Fourman, 87, of rural New Madison passed away July 17, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. He had been in failing health for four years, and under State of the Heart Hospice care for the past year.

Jesse was born in Arcanum on May 7, 1926, the son of the late Jesse Sr. and Hattie Mae (Fitzwater) Fourman. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his only brother, William Verl Fourman, sister-in-law Evelyn Fourman and his in-laws, Clark and Cora Holsapple.

Jesse was retired from the former Avco Corp. in Richmond, worked construction part-time and was a full-time farmer. His favorite past times were watching westerns, hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards, hunting mushrooms, chasing coyotes with his buddies and most of all spending time with his family.

Jesse was a veteran of the United States Navy and was also an American Legion member for over 67 years. He was very active with the former Castine United Methodist Church; he had recently attended Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren in New Madison.

Jesse is survived by his loving wife, Virginia (Holsapple) of 66 years. They were married on Aug. 10, 1946. He is also survived by his five children: Marsha (Junior) Fellers of Richmond, Connie (Dan) Rinehart, Dennis (Bev) Fourman, Susan (Lonnie) Voke, all of Greenville, Phillip (Tammy) Fourman of Hollansburg and special niece Rita (Dale) Barger of New Madison. Jesse is also survived by his 11 grandchildren: Greg Blair, Angela Bryant, Tina Jones, Kristi Taylor, Amy Mote, Heather Rinehart, Jennifer McWhinney, Dustin Fourman, Brittany Voke, Tyler Fourman and Tiffany Fourman. Also by his 23 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Omer (Janice) Holsapple of Bradford, sister-in-law Patty (Larry) Teaford of Largo, Fla., and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum, with Pastor Tony Price officiating. Burial will follow in Abbottsville Cemetery with the Greenville Area Honor Guard conducting military services.

The family will receive relatives and friends Monday 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the State of the Heart Hospice for their care giving and support.
