HOUSTON, Ohio - Joe W. Beasecker, 87, of Houston, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2014, at 6:15 p.m., at the Heartland of Piqua, in Piqua.

Joe was born on Dec. 10, 1926, in Arcanum, to the late Everett and Laura (Delk) Beasecker.

He was married to Dorothy (Stanley) Beasecker on July 15, 1944, and she survives. They had been married for over 69 years. Also surviving are her daughters, Marilyn Young and her husband, James, of Piqua, Sandy Miller and her husband, Jerry, of Piqua; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Beasecker and Dennis Beasecker; one brother, Berman Beasecker; one sister, Mary Lou Good.

Joe was a member of the Houston Christian Church. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a long-time member of the Sidney American Legion Post 217. Joe was a truck driver for the Val Decker Packing Company for over 30 years. He continued working as a mail driver and also worked at the Fort Loramie Mill, before retiring.

Joe loved to do gardening in his spare time. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend to all. He will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Houston Congregational Christian Church, 4883 Russia-Houston Road, Houston, with Pastor James Manuel officiating. Music accompaniment will be provided by Chaplin Candy Null. Burial will follow in the Miami Memorial Park with full military honors provided by Sidney American Legion Post 217.

Memorial donations may be made to the Houston Rescue Squad or to Heartland Hospice Services of Dayton, 3131 S. Dixie Drive, Suite 208, Dayton, Ohio, 45439, Joe's memory.
