LLOYD D. GRIMES

GREENVILLE - Lloyd D. Grimes, 95, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on Nov. 6, 2013, at 6:45 a.m. at Village Green Nursing Home, Greenville, Ohio.

He was born June 23, 1918, in Darke County, Ohio, the son of the late Roll Franklin and Dakota (Henry) Grimes. He was a farmer. He served in the United States Army in World War II

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Betty L. (Livingston) Grimes on May 10, 2001, whom he married Oct. 11, 1941; two great-grandchildren; brothers: David, Herman, Robert, James, and Roll Grimes Jr.; sisters: Leona Gessler, Betty Fudge, Anna Mikesell, Esther Moffitt, Marjorie Freymuth and an infant sister.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: Gayle and Sherry Grimes of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Larry and Janet Grimes of Union City, Ind., and Dan Grimes and Darci Richards of Greenville; daughter: Nancy Miller of Greenville; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brother: John Grimes of Union City, Ohio; sisters: Phyllis Hampshire of Winchester, Ind., Ida Mae Girton of Union City, Ind.; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Eric Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens. Veteran's graveside services will be conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.
