GREENVILLE - Phyllis "Elaine" Dohse, age 84, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully June 15, 2013, at her residence.
Elaine was born May 5, 1929, in Union City, Ind., and was the only child of the late Monroe and Virginia (Lephart) Puterbaugh.
Elaine will be remembered for her love of American history, her passion for democracy and her gift as a fine drapist and seamstress. She will be missed by her family and her faithful companion Katie Sue (her dog).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Dohse, Jan. 30, 2010. They were married for 61 years.
She is survived by her five children and spouses: John "Fred" (Dede) Dohse of Aiken, S.C., James "Ted" Dohse of Orlando, Fla., Virginia (Kyle) Kagey of Greenville, Michael (Linda) Dohse of Spartanburg, S.C. and Christopher Dohse of Saugerties, N.Y. She was the proud grandmother of Andy Dohse, Becky McCarthy, Emily Oglesby, Amy Garrison, Molly McMullen, Ben Dohse and Ryan Dohse as well as great-grandmother to 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Burial will follow in the Ansonia Cemetery.
