PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Robert E. Schaar, 79, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died on Oct. 22, 2012.

He was born on March 10, 1933, in Clayton, Ohio, to Herman Schaar and Adeline White Schaar.

He came to Port Charlotte, Fla., from Arcanum in 1983. Robert was a member of the American Legion Post # 110 of Port Charlotte, Florida, and a past member of the North Port Moose Lodge. He was a US Marine serving in the Korean War from 1952 until 1958.

Survivors include his wife, Rozenna of 51 years of Port Charlotte, Fla.: his son, Randy Schaar of Orlando, Fla., and his daughter, Bonnie Schaar of Port Charlotte, Fla.: his brother William "Shorty" and wife Geraldine of Arcanum; five sisters-in- law, Janice Schaar of Arcanum, Ethel Schaar of Lewisburg, Vontilla (Lou) Durko of Englewood, Marieda (Eugene) Stephenson of Orange City, Fla., and Theola Warner (Leroy Romer) of Kettering; brother-in-law, Darwin (Judy) Shelton of Cartersville, Ga.; and adopted brother, Dwight Ressler of Arcanum.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Donald, and Jimmy Lee Schaar.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Kreitzer Funeral Home, Arcanum, with Bradley Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow at Ithaca Cemetery.
