Robert "Gene" Yohey

GREENVILLE - Robert "Gene" Yohey, 79, of Greenville, passed away Jan. 19, 2013, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

He was born July 13, 1933, in Darke County, Ohio, son of the late Austin LeRoy and Bertha (Lyme) Yohey. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Ray Yohey, Roy Yohey, Lucille Kimmel, Janette Cain, Marlene Skinner; and a son-in-law, David Shiverdecker.

Gene was retired from farming which was his passion, also had worked at Ansonia Lumber Yard, Ansonia Farm Service. He was a veteran of the US Army, a member of the Greenville Eagles #2177, Greenville Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley (Blackburn) Yohey,whom he married July 4, 1953; children, Larry G, (Connie) Yohey of Rossburg, Sharon K. (Brent) Siders of Greenville, Connie S. Shiverdecker of Greenville; grandchildren, Travis Yohey, Jason (Jennifer) Yohey, Shelly Geyer, Scott Siders, Holli Anderson, Nicholas Anderson, Tracy (Steve) Bailey; great-grandchildren, Dominic and Devin Geyer, Julia and Eva Yohey, Kyla and Gavin Gerace, Joseph Siders, Parker and Kaylyn Bailey; and a sister, Helen (Melvin) Spencer of Greenville.

Services with full military honors by the Greenville Honor Guard will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with the Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.
