Steven Dale Heltzel, age 65, of Richmond, Ind. died Oct. 7, 2012,, at his home.
Born Sept. 5, 1947, in Winchester, Ind., to Donald and Esther Heltzel, he lived in this area most of his life.
Steve was a graduate of Winchester High School and served in the National Guard from 1966 to 1974. He worked in various aspects of the trucking industry. Steve was a member of American Legion Post #65, past member of the Elks in Richmond, and past member of the Moose Lodge in Greenville, Ohio. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family and friends. Steve never missed an opportunity to let people know how much he cared.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Centers Heltzel; mother, Esther Heltzel of Greenville, Ohio; sister, Susie George of Greenville, Ohio; son, Rodney Heltzel; nephews, Barry T. (Shelley) Deem and family, and Travis Petry and family; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation for Steven Dale Heltzel will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond, with a memorial service immediately following. Rev. Robert Malone will officiate with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
