Betty Louise Silcott, age 88, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 4:50 a.m. Oct. 10, 2012, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.
Betty was born April 19, 1924, in Darke County to the late Lewis Scott and Mary Lucille (Wilson) Fitzgerald.
Betty is survived by her son, James "Jim" Doss and special friend, Shirley Allread of Greenville; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Douglas Lowder of Greenville and Sharon and Ray Wintrow of Greenville; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Judy Fitzgerald of Greenville and Robert and Maxine Fitzgerald of Greenville; sisters and brother-in-law, Norma Baker of Greenville and Marthalie and Vern Tracey of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty is also preceded in death by a husband, Earnest Silcott, on Aug. 17, 2000; daughter, Pam Marshall; son, Robert Lee Doss Jr.; brother, Charles Fitzgerald; and sisters, Joan Messmore and Mary Lou Newbauer.
Betty cooked at the Darke County Home for 25 years and was also a homemaker. Betty was a charter member of the Darke County Singles Club; member of the Greenville Moose; Greenville American Legion Ladies Auxiliary; Greenville Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary; Greenville Eagles; Senior Citizens Card Club; and Public Employees Retired Seniors.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Todd Reish officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Gardens in Darke County.
