GREENVILLE - Lee Elsass, age 80, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away at 7:10 p.m. March 27, 2014, at the Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.
He was born June 1, 1933, in Clarksville, Ohio, and the son of the late Harry John and Ava Della (Bagford) Elsass.
Lee was retired following a 33-year career as an elementary school principal and teacher. He also had served in the military during peacetime, a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Elk's Lodge and a Lifetime member of the Optimist Club, all of Greenville and a member of the Ohio and Darke County Retired Teachers Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Barbara (Wilt) Elsass Oct. 5, 2013. They were married Aug. 25, 1957.
Lee is survived by his children, Lorri (Jeff) Shoop of Greenville, Larry Elsass of Margate, Fla., and Lowell Elsass of Greenville; grandchildren ,Krystin, Lyndsey and Conner Elsass, Dirk Shoop; great-grandchildren, Lexi and Lucas Shoop; sister, Helen Burden of Sidney, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on April 4, at 2 p.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church, 7418 State Route 121-N, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor Patti Morlock officiating. Private burial will be held in the St. John Church Cemetery.
