GREENVILLE - Phyllis M. Cole, age 85, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 4:34 p.m. June 19, 2014, at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville.
Phyllis was born Aug. 19, 1928/ in Arcanum, Ohio/ to the late Otis L. and Grace M. (Miller) DeWeese.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of over 65 years, Robert J. Cole, whom she married Sept. 12, 1948; children, Susan Hohler of Greenville, Alan and Pamela Cole of Greenville, Michael and Beth Cole of Vero Beach, Fla., and Jeffrey and Carol Cole of Monroe, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Phyllis formerly worked at Lehman Paint Store for five years and Lowell Brothers Paint Store for six years. Phyllis retired on Jan. 1, 1994, from Greenville National Bank with 24 years of service where she was managing the Real Estate Department. Phyllis was a former member of Fort Greenville Order of Eastern Star and a former adviser to the Rainbow Girls. Phyllis enjoyed quilting, sewing, and boating. Phyllis loved her family, gardening, roses and was a great cook.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Gary Oser officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice or Rest Haven Nursing Home Activities Fund.
