BRADFORD - Jerome R. "Jerry" Cain, age 67, of Bradford, Ohio, passed away on July 13, 2014, at Wayne Hospital in Greenville, Ohio.

He was born in Piqua, Ohio, on April 26, 1947, to the late Norman R. and Effie M. (Leonard) Cain.

Jerry is survived by his wife of eight years, Michelle A. (Burk) Cain; one son and daughter-in-law: Rob and Brandy Erickson of Normal, Ill.; one daughter and son-in-law: Mandy and P. J. Ratesic of Irwin, Pa.; one stepdaughter: Lauren Gansman of Evansville, Ind.; one sister: Rita Leis of Bradford, Ohio; one brother and sister-in-law: Dennis and Cindy Cain of Bradford, Ohio; and six grandchildren: Conner, Caleb, Gavin, Ivan, Colin and Alyvea.

Jerry received his bachelor of arts and master of science degrees from Miami University. He completed his doctorate studies at the University of Connecticut, where he received his PhD in biology. Jerry was an assistant provost at Illinois State University before becoming dean of the Potts College of Science and Engineering at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Ind. He was a member of the Phi Sigma Society and Sigma Xi Society. He was a Distinguished Alumni from Bradford Schools and was also a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Bradford.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, 200 Clay St., Bradford, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. Ronald Haft as celebrant. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park in Covington, Ohio. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home in Bradford.
