Bill Shockney, 86, Union City, Ind., died July 27, 2012, at St. Vincent Randolph Hospital.
He was born Oct. 17, 1925, in Wayne Township, Randolph County, Ind., son of the late Theodore and Ruth Mason Shockney. Also deceased is one infant son, Richard Alyn Shockney.
HE was a farmer and worked for Westinghouse Tool and Die Repair for 34 years. A Wayne High School Class of 1943 graduate, Bill also loved fishing and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Jean Wood Shockney, three daughters; Arlinda "Lynn" Bond of Lynn, Ind., Gena (Daniel) Sweet of Cambridge City, Ind., and Penny (Charles) Anderson of Eaton, Ohio; grandchildren, Kathy, Tony, Robert and Denise Bond, Dillon and Emily Sweet, Kelsey and Nicholas Anderson; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, J M.(Shirley) Shockney of Union City, Ind.; niece Jackie (Mike) Stump and nephew Allen Shockney.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Union City Cemetery, with the Rev. Matt Miller officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shockney Monument Fund which is a historic family icon that is being saved.
