VANCEBURG, Ky. - Oburn Baker, age 89, passed away at his home with his family by his side the evening of Nov. 5, 2012, at 6:35 pm.

Mr. Baker was born in Carter County, Ky. July 30, 1923, to the late Dan and Kathleen Qualls Baker.

He was a veteran of the United States Army serving his country during World War II. Mr. Baker was employed with General Motors Company in Mansfield, Ohio, for 27 years.

He was also a member of the Vanceburg Christian Church.

Preceded him in death besides his parents were his first wife, Thelma Curtis Baker, in 1988, and a sister, Malissa Ann Dehart.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys Kegley Lykins Baker of Vanceburg, Ky.; two daughters, Karen (Michael) Bocka of Galion, Ohio, and Martha Kathleen Baker of Lexington, Ohio; one sister, Lou (Osborne) Caudill of Crestline, Ohio; one stepson, Glenn D. (Alice) Gilbert of Vanceburg, Ky.; one stepgrandson and one stepgreat-grandson; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Gaydos Funeral Home, Vanceburg.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Cox Jr. officiating. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Crestline, Ohio, with Pastor Rick McCartney officiating.Condolences may be sent to the family at www.gaydosfh.com.
