R. Ronald Good

CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. - R. Ronald Good of Castro Valley, Calif., died March 15, 2013, at the age of 97 years young.

He was born Dec. 5, 1915, in Jackson Township, Darke County, to Clifford and Alice Stump Good.

In 1935, Ronald joined the (CCC) Civilian Conservation Corps and was stationed in California and Nevada. He met his wife, Lillian Boyd, there and later they moved to California.

During World War II, he was a welder in the shipyards and also served in the U.S. Army. Ronald's hobby was bowling and he was inducted into the Alameda County Men's Bowling Association Hall of Fame.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years; his parents; and brothers, Kenneth, Glenn and Wayne Good.

Ronald is survived by his sons, Jim (and Laura) of Rapid City, S.C., Ed (and Karen) of Placerville, Calif., Cliff (and Sue) of Livermore, Calif., and Art (and Valarie) of Grass Valley, Calif.; daughter, Mary (and Lucky) Williams of Castro Valley, Calif., Corinne (and Don) Andrews of Livermore, Calif., and Nadine Good of Castro Valley, Calif. Also, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Turner and Eileen (and Harold) McKnight of Greenville area and Betty (and Veryl) Lyons of Portland, Ind.; sister-in-law, Pat (and Jim) Benson of Union City, Ind.

Services were conducted in Castro Valley, Calif., and burial was in Citizens Cemetery, Oakdale, Calif.
