GREENVILLE - Dorothea Mae Holland, age 83, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on June 14, 2013, at 5:15 p.m. at Heartland of Greenville, Greenville, Ohio.
She was born on Feb. 14, 1930, in Richmond, Ind., to the late Ralph and Ruth (Eppse) Nickens.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Bonnie (Mark) McCown and Robin (Len) Baker, both of Greenville, Ohio; son David Ford of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Jantzen Baker, Brittany Baker and Brie McCown; great-grandchildren, Jaylen Baker and Maddie Baker; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dorothea was a homemaker and attended the Bethel Long Church in Longtown. She was a caring, devoted wife, mother, grandmother. Dorothea always thought she was blessed to have had the opportunity to be involved in the lives of her great-granddaughters for nine years. For many years she took an active role in her community special events and activities. Her infectious sense of humor and loving smile attracted many wonderful friends throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Holland, whom she married on July 9, 1949; sister, Betty Hinton; and brother, Melvin Nickens.
There will be a graveside service held on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in Bass Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio, with Pastor Pam King officiating.
