UNION CITY, Ohio - Phyllis M. Pouder, age 81, of Union City, Ohio, passed away Jan. 16, 2014 at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
Phyllis was born May 30, 1932 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Clarence and Alice (Meier) Rhoades. Along with her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Kent Pouder, in 1957.
She owned and operated the Christian Book Store in Union City, Ind. for 15 years, as well as working at the Union City Hospital, Ambassador Motel and Farmer's State Bank. She belonged to Hillgrove Federated Church and the Hillgrove Service Circle.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 62 years, Chester M. Pouder; children, Dennis M. (Lee) Pouder of Union City, Ohio, Duane K. (Lynn) Pouder of Union City, Ohio, Debbie S. (Steve) Manning of Anderson, Ind.; five grandchildren, Matthew (Lynne) Voke, Kevin Voke, Shannon (Jason) Chappel, Jason (Tiffany) Pouder, Jodi (Paul) Barton; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doris Mikesell of Greenville; three nieces also survive.
Visitation was Sunday at Reichard Funeral Home, located at 400 W. Deerfield Road in Union City, Ind. Services were held Monday, with burial in Greenville-Union Cemetery, Greenville Ohio with the Reverend Scott Trittschuh officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hillgrove Federated Church, with envelopes available via Reichard Funeral Home.
