Carl Henry Lee, 92, formerly of West Frankfort, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 in Alpharetta, GA. He was born March 30, 1921 in West Frankfort to John Henry Lee and Laura Jane (Quertermous ) Lee. He married Elaine June (Marcinak) Lee in Chicago on August 15, 1953.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Sally Lee of Los Angeles, CA and Chuck and Mindy Lee of Alpharetta, GA, one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy Lee Heidorn and Michael Heidorn of Modesto, CA, six granddaughters and three grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, twelve brothers and sisters, and his wife, Elaine June Lee, who passed away on June 1, 2011.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in West Frankfort, where he served as Branch President, Bishop, counselor in the Stake Presidency of the Fairview Heights, Illinois Stake, Stake Patriarch, and Temple ordinance worker at the Chicago, IL and St. Louis, MO Temples.

He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps. as a B-24 bomber pilot for the 30th Bomb Group of the 7th Air Force, based in Hawaii. During World War II he was highly decorated and flew 34 missions over East Asia.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort is in charge of arrangements.

Military rites will be conducted by the American Legions of Orient and Zeigler, the VFW of West Frankfort and the Marion Military Honors Team. For more information or to sign the guest register visit www.parkerreedyfuneralhome.com.
