James Henry Lind, age 82 of Albia, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013, at Oakwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albia.

Jim was born December 8, 1930, to George Henry and Grace Mae (Wall) Lind in Stonefort, Illinois. He married Donna Marie Roberts September 12, 1987, in West Frankfort, IL.
Jim grew up and attended school in Stonefort, IL. He entered the United States Army in 1948 and served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars; retiring after 20 years of service in 1968. After retiring from the Army, he began working from Cablec in Du Quoin, IL; retiring in 1993.
James was a member of Albia Baptist Temple and was very active in the church. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and watching his favorite NASCAR driver, Carl Edwards. He also loved spending time with his family and being around kids.
James is survived by his wife, Donna of Albia; a son, James Paul (Kathy) Lind of Coello, IL; two daughters, Deborah Kay (Rick) Harmon of Benton, IL and Barbara Ann Ascaridis of Silver Hill, AL; three stepsons, Steven (Karla) Roberts of Van Meter, IA, Kevin (LeAnne) Roberts of Kila, MT, and Mark (Laura) Roberts of Woodward, IA; five grandchildren; ten step grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and five siblings, Louise Buie of Sycamore, IL, Sam (Helen) Lind of Johnston City, IL, Alfred (Fannie) Lind of Agency, IA, Paul Lind of Creal Springs, IL, and Gary (Jan) Lind of Marion, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a step daughter, Kim Roberts.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 22, 2013, at Albia Baptist Temple in Albia; with Pastor Brian Harris officiating. Burial will be in Oak View Cemetery in Albia with military rites provided by the American Legion of Albia, Lovilia, and Melrose.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday, November 21, 2013, at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia; with Jim's family present during that time.
Memorials may be made to Albia Baptist Temple.
