Jerry Ray Burton, 76, of Paducah, Kentucky formerly of West Frankfort, Illinois entered the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 20, 2014 in Paducah, KY at 11:38a.m.

He was born November 28, 1937 to Harry and Elsie (McElyea) Burton in Orient, Illinois.
Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Profitt Cima on May 8, 2010 in Paducah, KY where they continued to reside. They renewed their long lost love after 53 years of living separate lives, children, and family. Jerry and Barbara were blessed with wonderful children. Although they only lived their life together for four short years, their lives were filled with love, joy, and knowing that God's providence had brought them together once again. Jerry served in the U.S. Air Force beginning in 1957. He joined the Illinois State Troopers in 1970 and served for 22 years. He retired in 1992 as a Master Sergeant and served as a Public Information Office, New Cadet Training in Springfield, Illinois, commanded the Department of Criminal Investigation team for a number of years. Jerry was always proud to be able to serve the State of Illinois with pride, integrity, and honor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Oneida Davis, Wavell Burton, Shirley Shostrom, Barbara Joy Burton, Zella Burton.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Cima Burton of Paducah, KY; sons: Talon (Lisa) Burton Taylorville, IL; Lance (Stephanie) Burton of Dallas, TX; children: Cyndi (Larry) Cima-Lewis of Paducah, KY; Jeff (Lauralyn) Cima of Marion; Stephanie Cima of Marion; Steve (Marilyn) Cima of Paducah, KY; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sister: Vonnie (Don) Griffith of West Frankfort; and brother, John (Julia) Burton of Akin, SC.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois with Kenneth Blumenstock officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service.
Interment will be at Denning Cemetery on the Orient Road.
Memorials may be made to St. Judes or Hospice of Illinois or Kentucky. Envelopes will be available and accepted at the funeral home.
