Lonnie Eugene White, 84, of Zeigler, Illinois passed away at 4:45 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the Herrin Hospital.

Lonnie was born January 1, 1929 in Benton to Lloyd and Anna (Burress) White.

He married Charlotte (Gilmore) Swalls October 2, 1999 in Herrin. She survives in Zeigler.

Other survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Clancy and Kristy White of DuQuoin, Mike and Dawn White of Troy, MO; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ruth and Joe Teel of West Frankfort and Brenda and Scott Gross of Bellflower, MO; a step-son, Keith Swalls of Calahan, FL; 2 step-daughters, Maria (Kevin) Nix of Royalton, Lori (Joe) Hargraves of Zeigler; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

His parents; two brothers, Charles and Lloyd White and an infant sister, Jewel preceded him in death.

Mr. White was a member of the St. Andrews Church in Christopher. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II who served on the U.S.S. Andromeda, AKA 15 and a member the VFW in Marion, IL. He was a retired journeyman electrician who worked out of the IEBW Local Union 702 in West Frankfort.

A Funeral Mass for Mr. White will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the St. Andrews Catholic Church in Christopher with Father Peter Balili officiating. Burial with military honors courtesy of the Zeigler and Orient American Legions, the West Frankfort VFW and the Marion National Guard Flag Detail will be Sacred Heart-St. Aloysius Cemetery, West of Zeigler. Visiting hours are from 9 to 11 a.m., at the church until the hour of the services.

In lieu of flowers, are suggested to the St. Andrews Catholic Church, 412 S. Washington Street, Christopher, IL 62822 or Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Rd, Marion, IL 62959.
