Julia Jackanicz Wach, 91, of Orient, Illinois passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at her residence.

She was born October 5, 1922 in Pershing, Illinois to Theodore and Anna (Nesterak) Jackanicz.
Julia attended Pershing Grammar School in Pershing, Illinois, through second grade. She attended 3rd grade through 8th grade at Townmount Grammar School in rural West Frankfort followed by graduating from Frankfort High School, West Frankfort, Illinois in 1940. Julia attended two years at Southern Illinois University (in elementary education), Carbondale, Illinois and one year at Cherokee Business College on California Street in St. Louis, Missouri. She went to live on her parents' farm for about a year then went to live with her sister, Millie, in Chicago. Julia married Leon Wach in February 1946, in Chicago and was married for 58 years. She was a secretary for the U.S. Army Ordinance, 333 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. She also worked at Montgomery Ward in Chicago. Later, she was a devoted homemaker, mother, and loving grandmother. She always enjoyed attending family gatherings and her grandchildren's activities and sporting events. Julia loved to bake pies, make an assortment of cookies and candy for the holidays, and decorate her home. She was very kindhearted and helpful by giving whatever she could to family, friends, and others. When they were first married, Julia and her husband loved to go dancing and she would look forward to home parties throughout her life. She always enjoyed watching ""The Wheel of Fortune"", ""The Lawrence Welk Show"", ""Andy Griffith Show"", ""Little House on the Prairie"", and ""The Waltons."" Julia loved to fish, and she had gone fishing not long ago at her nephew's home. She could sure make some good fried chicken and other dishes enjoyed by all her family. Gardening was a fun hobby for her to do. She loved all the dogs in her life and she liked to go to zoos.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2004; her parents; brothers: John, Michael, Charley, Pete, and infant brother Paul; sisters, Millie and Mary.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie and husband, Michael Coats; son, Anthony Wach; grandchildren: Jeffery Coats, Sarah Coats, Travis Wach, and Jacob Wach; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois with Michael Coats officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the funeral home from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at Denning Cemetery on the Orient Road.
