Charlotte Droste

Charlotte Eugenie (Hekker) Droste
Cherished wife, mother, "oma", and sister passed on peacefully to her eternal home on Friday, November 16, 2012, with her devoted family at her side. She was born in the Dutch East Indies on November 2, 1926, where she met her beloved husband Louis Marie Droste - beginning their life together with marriage in 1946. In 1953 they relocated to The Netherlands (Holland) - and immigrated to the USA in 1961, making California home. Preceded in death by her parents, Willem and Hermine Hekker, her husband of 55 years, her brother, Hans and her sister, Jacqueline, she is survived by her 4 children: Marja Way (Ron), Inger Droste Adams, Peter Droste (Debbie) and Paul Droste (Jackie). She was Oma to her 9 precious grandchildren, Jennifer Tyo (Rob), Ron Way Jr. (Sandra), Ryan Way, E. Monique Floyd (Sam Sapp), Ayanna Wicks (Neil), Andrea Reese, Antoinette Garcia-Droste, Penelope Vargas and Pressa Droste - and 7 treasured great-grandchildren, Victoria Tyo, Jackson Tyo, Grace Tyo, Brealyn Way, Ella Way, Brandon Sapp and Cameron Sapp. As the oldest of nine children, she was a deeply loved daughter and sister - to those closest, she was simply and endearingly known as "Babes". She is survived by 6 beloved siblings: in the USA: Eveline Emondt (Louis), Louise D. Rozenberg and Olivia Gregory - in The Netherlands: Willem Hekker (Els), Robert Hekker (Ada), and Edm#233; Roest (Wally) as well as her dear sister-in-law: Ellie (Droste) Veer, also in The Netherlands - and a host of much loved nieces, nephews and extended family. With profound gratitude we honor her legacy of faith and trust in God, her unwavering love of family and her charity. Her name will be entered into the Book of Life during Mass at St. James Catholic Church (Redondo Beach) at 12:30 pm, December 1, 2012 - a Celebration of Life follows. Go to for more information.
