David R. Cox

David R. Cox

Our husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, David R. Cox passed away at his home in La Quinta, CA, on Sunday, September 30. His passing was peaceful and with loved ones by his side. The son of Jack and Octavia Cox, David grew up in Palos Verdes Estates with sisters, Judy, Donna, and Carrel and brother, Hal. He was a member of Palos Verdes High School's charter class, the first class to attend PV High all four years. A former Marine reservist, he graduated from the University of Southern California, and eventually took his passion for numbers and people to Citicorp. David's work with Citicorp saw him and his family move to San Francisco, New York, and Chicago, and take countless trips around the world. It ultimately brought him back to Palos Verdes Estates in 1990, where he was an active member of the Palos Verdes Golf Club, serving as club president in 2005. In 2009, and with his kids finally out of the house, David and Peggy moved to La Quinta, where he spent time doing what he loved: playing golf, reading, traveling, walking his dog Tucker, and visiting with his grandchildren. David is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Peggy; his sons, Tim (Amie) and Daniel (Jennifer); his daughter, Molly (Robert); sister, Donna; brother, Hal; grandchildren, Garrett, Aaron, Courtney, Gretchen, Max, Holland and Lucas; many nieces and nephews, and so many friends. He will be missed, but we take comfort knowing that he lived life. A service will be held at St. John Fisher on Saturday, October 6, at 12:00. Flowers are not necessary, but those wishing to remember David's life may donate to the or the Lustgarten Foundation. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
