Denis Philip Drohan

Denis Philip Drohan

Denis Philip Drohan, 57, passed away at home on March 14, 2013, in El Segundo, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband and father who loved his family deeply and took great delight in their lives. A compassionate and caring man, with an enormous heart who never met a stranger, "Big D" was a fun-loving spirit with a big presence—his 6'3" height, huge smile, booming laugh, crushing handshake and dancing eyes that drew you in. He attended St. Monica Catholic Elementary School and was a 1973 graduate of St. Bernard High School. Denis was an incredibly talented athlete – an amazing baseball pitcher, as well as a prolific striker of the golf ball. His quick wit was with him to the end. His free time was spent with his family and friends, listening to Bruce, enjoying pizza, and pampering his vintage car. Fueling his lifelong fascination with air travel, Denis worked at and around Los Angeles International Airport, most recently with United Airlines. Denis is survived by the love of his life and beloved bride of 18 years, Anne (Cervenak). Cherishing his memory are his adored children-son Michael Denis and daughter, Meghan Marie, father Brendan Drohan (of Las Vegas), younger sisters Claire (of Westchester), Deirdre (of El Segundo), and Trisha (of Ridgecrest). His mother Bernadette preceded him in death. The entire Cervenak family joins them in mourning his passing. No words can express how much he will be missed. A funeral Mass for Denis will be celebrated on Saturday, March 23 at 11:00 at Visitation Catholic Church in Westchester. In lieu of flowers, a benevolent account has been made to support his family's needs and education at Chase Bank 130 East Grand Ave. El Segundo, CA 90245 payable to Anne Drohan.
