Eugene Lee Dickason
Eugene Lee Dickason, born in 1923 in San Luis Obispo, California, passed away May 3, 2013 at home in Redondo Beach, California. Lee served in the Army
during World War II
and returned to earn a degree in Engineering at San Jose State University and later added his professional registration as a mechanical engineer. He was employed by Garrett AiResearch for 32 years, retiring in 1987. His hobbies included camping and hiking in the Sierras with his family and attending local and international book fairs to add to his collection of books. After retiring, Lee enjoyed attending summer literature classes at Oxford University in England and walking around his neighborhood with his little dachshund, Hercules. Lee Dickason was preceded in death by his twin brother, Oliver Key Dickason and other siblings, Homer, Griffith, Jonmore and Catherine. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Dickason; children, Lee (Steve) Berlin of Sacramento, CA, Dale (Bernard) Verkaaik of Kapaa, HI, Bryan (Carol) Dickason of Roseville, CA and Jack (Tina Vilcek) Dickason of Crestwood, MO; grandchildren, David and Catherine Berlin, Lindsay and Leslie Dickason; and great-grandchildren, Izabella and Willow Wood, and Mason Berlin. Lee had a special place in his heart for the children and grandchildren of Tina Vilcek. Lee requested no formal services and has been cremated. His family thanks friends and neighbors for their support at this time and in the past months.
