Chief Henry "Mijo" Valencia
April 12, 1957 - October 11, 2013
A 56 year resident of San Pedro, California. Because of his love for sports, Henry was a superb athlete and later a beloved coach. He was a loyal Dodger and wrestling fan. He had a love for his tarantulas that he took everywhere. Henry was proud of his Native American heritage. He was known as Chief Night Owl down on the docks. After the sudden death of his father, Henry Valencia Sr., he followed in his father's footsteps and joined his ILWU family where he was a dedicated longshoreman for 38 years and proud leader of his boys Gang 27. Henry was known for his big heart stayed true to his self till his very last breath with his children by his side. He is survived by his loving mother, Engracia Valencia Padilla; children, Desiree and Ernie Hernandez, Danielle, and Henry; grandchildren, Ernie Jr., Amanda, Nicko and Jojo Hernandez; sister, Sandra and family John, Carissa Juan Antonio Ara. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, October 17, 2013, 12:00 p.m. Mary Star of the Sea Church followed by interment at Green Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 3 - 7 p.m.at
