In Loving Memory of Jaimee Hendrickson
Jaimee, the daughter of Oscar and Effie Lukken was born in Maskell, Nebraska on August 30, 1927. A 54 year resident of Palos Verdes Estates, she passed away August 3, 2014 from a totally unexpected massive stroke at Torrance Memorial Hospital. The stroke had occurred on the morning of August 1st at home.
Jaimee was preceded in death by daughter Susan in 2005. She is survived by Don, her loving husband of 60 years, her sister Beth Lochmoeller, 3 sons, Chris, Eric (Bonnie and extended family), Craig (Lori), 5 grandsons and 1 great granddaughter. Jaimee was a UCLA
graduate with a Masters Degree in Mathematics. She was a member of the "National Math Honorary Fraternity" and the only woman getting a masters in math at the time. Her thesis was done under Dr. Magnus Hestenes, who was chairman of the math department and in "Who's Who" for "Calculus of Variations." After graduation from UCLA, she taught high school math in Needles, CA for one year. She came back to L.A. and worked as a mathematician at Rand Corp. in Santa Monica, CA for two years. She then moved to North American Aviation to work under Dr. Rose Lund, a renowned authority on "vibration and flutter" in aircraft. She also worked as a computer programmer at Hughes Aircraft Electronics Division and later worked as a computer programmer at Logicon in San Pedro, retiring at age 62. She left North American after two years to marry Don and raise her four children. Jaimee was an active member (24 years) of the Spinnakers Auxiliary of the Assistance League of San Pedro - South Bay. Her unselfish contributions will be sorely missed.
Jaimee and her warm smile will be greatly missed by her family and all those who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014, 12-4pm at home for family and friends.
