James "Doug"las Hedde

James "Doug"las Hedde was born November 12, 1933 in Logansport, Indiana and passed away February 3, 2013. He was the son of Dorothy and Victor J. Hedde. Doug graduated from Logansport High School in 1951 and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in 1956. He was in the ROTC program and earned his commission as a Second Lieutenant. On June 6, 1956, six days after his college graduation, Doug married the love of his life, Connie, who he had met in seventh grade. Doug started his sales career as a sales trainee at the Shakeproof Division of the Illinois Tool Works in Elgin, Illinois. He was transferred to Los Angeles. A few years later, he accepted a position with the Bob Gosche Company. In 1972, Doug and another salesman, Bob Schultz, formed their own company, Imperial Fasteners, Inc., which they owned for over 27 years. Doug and Connie moved to Torrance in 1960. Doug was very active in many community activities He was a past president of the Torrance Jaycees, a JCI Senator, a member of the Torrance Chamber of Commerce, a City Commissioner, a fund-raiser division head for the YMCA and was active managing his sons Little League teams. He served as a Deacon at the First Christian Church and was a member since 1962. All those who knew Doug Hedde will never forget him. His family was his first priority and he truly "loved his neighbor". He loved his life and his friends and shared many, many interests with them. The "Charades" and" Bridge Group" all shared many social interests including camping, boating, fishing, skiing and bridge. He is survived by his loving wife, Connie; sons, Doug Jr. (Lindy) and Marc (Cheryl); grandchildren, Connor, Caitlin, Avery and Logan; sister, Elizabeth (Louis) Kelley; and niece, Kimberley Kelley. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, February 8th at the First Christian Church, 2930 El Dorado Street, Torrance, CA. 90503.
