James H. Carne

James passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 10, 2012. He was born in Sacramento, CA on November 12, 1928 and grew up in Redondo Beach, CA. James graduated from Redondo Union High School where he was a member of the football, track, and golf teams. James also played football at El Camino Junior College. At 6' 3" he was always known for his size and physique. He passed on his athletic prowess to his children and grandchildren who are also current and past high-school and college athletes. James became a firefighter for the Manhattan Beach F.D. and later retired from the Signal Hill F.D. as a captain. James was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Barbara in 2009. He is survived by his four children; James Jr., Gail Valadez, Christy Berberet, and Carol Smith, as well as 19 grandchildren.
