Johnny Villanueva Cortez, Sr.

Johnny Villanueva Cortez, Sr. was born on May 16, 1939 in Tangcarang, Alaminos City, Pangasinan in the Philippine Islands and was called home to be with the Lord on April 28, 2013, surrounded by his entire family. He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores; five sons, Ramil Cortez, Wally (Victoria) Cortez, Gilbert (Lucille) Cortez, Melchor (Ericka) Cortez and Johnny (Arlene) Cortez Jr.; 12 grandchildren, Monique (Christian), Michael, Daniel, Juliette, Gilbert, Julissa, Ysabella, Adel, Melchor, Ramil, Aleeyah and Johnny; and great-granddaughter, Pualani. Johnny joined the U.S. Navy at age 19 and served proudly for 20 years. After retirement he started Cortez Econo Rooter, which he owned and operated until 2005. Johnny and Dolores were active members of the Filipino community in Carson, where they have lived since 1970. Johnny was loved by so many and will be so dearly missed. Visitation will be Thursday, May 2 from 10am to 9pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary in Long Beach . Celebration of his life and burial will be Friday, May 3 at 9:30am.
