Judith Ann Karmelich

Judith Ann Karmelich

Judith Ann Karmelich lost her battle with pancreatic cancer and passed away at home on February 9, 2013 surrounded by her family. Born on April 11, 1949 in Santa Monica to a career Army family, she lived in several states and 4 years in Germany before returning to San Pedro, CA in 1961, where she attended San Pedro High School (S'67) and then UCLA. Judy and Mike Karmelich were high school sweethearts, and they were married in February 1968. Their children were third generation San Pedro High graduates. Judy supported Mike in his career in the shipping industry and worked as a Phlebotomist at Kaiser Hospital and then as an executive assistant at Rolling Hills Covenant Church after the children moved on to college. They moved to Thousand Oaks in 1997 and Judy took an active role in the Wellness Community and the Assistance League of Conejo Valley. Judy and Mike enjoyed traveling and made several trips to Europe, but the real joy of her life was to be around family - especially the trips to the timeshare in Kauai. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Mike; son, Robert (Danelle) Karmelich; daughter, Karrie (Curtis) Stratton; and grandchildren, Julia and Jordan Stratton and Justin Frank. The family will be celebrating her life in a memorial service at Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village on Saturday, March 9, 2013. Judy had requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRFOC.org) or the Assistance League of Conejo Valley (ALCV.net). Please sign the guestbook
