Kevin Schroeder

Kevin Robert Schroeder
Passed away on November 27, 2012 at the age of 58 in San Pedro where he was a lifelong resident. Kevin was a commercial fisherman but spent the majority of his life as a proud 3rd generation longshoreman. He held numerous positions within the I.L.W.U. and was an active union representative. Kevin had also proudly held the office of vice president for I.L.W.U. Local 13. In 1996, he had the distinct honor of introducing President Bill Clinton to the Waterfront and the I.L.W.U. But he was mostly honored to serve the members of his union. Kevin was "Papa" to his 3 grandchildren that he played many, many hours with, and would go to any lengths for. They meant the world to him. He cared for and looked over his family, always. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Robert Ryan Schroeder, brother, Mickey Schroeder, and his parents, Bob and Connie Schroeder. Kevin is survived by his wife of 37 years, Esther Schroeder; son, Lee (Stephanie) Schroeder; grandchildren, Sonny, Angelina, and Leo, all lifetime residents of San Pedro. He also has an extended family of cousins and an infinite amount of Union brothers and sisters. Kevin is greatly missed and will always live in their hearts. He fought a good fight with his loving wife by his side the whole way through. We love you too "Boo-Boo", Forever. You are the best. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the I.L.W.U. Scholarship Fund or the So. Cal. - I.L.W.U. Pensioner's Fund. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at Rolling Hills Chapel, 2221 Palos Verdes Drive North, Rolling Hills Estates, followed by interment at Green Hills Memorial Park.
