Maria Vuoso (DeLuca)
During this holy season our Lord decided to call his daughter Maria Vuoso (DeLuca) home to his side. We are both heartbroken and joyful at the same time that it was His wish that she join Him at the celebration of Jesus' birth in heaven. Maria Vuoso had a brief illness that took her from us on Christmas morning, December 25 2012. Her devoted family held vigil constantly at her side during this time. Maria was born on April 5, 1922 on the island of Ischia to Pasquale and Carmela De Luca, the last of 6 children. Although she was a teenager during the height of WW II with many stories of occupied Italy, she nevertheless looked back fondly on her youth on the tiny island of Ischia with a warm and loving family. In 1943 she studied sewing and dress design in Naples, Italy and became an accomplished seamstress, who also taught sewing to many young girls. In 1949 she married Pancrazio Vuoso at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Pompeii. They settled in San Pedro and had 5 children together in addition to Pancrazio's 3 sons. Pancrazio owned and operated the fishing vessel St. George II and Maria was a busy homemaker, to say the least, especially after the arrival of their triplet boys in 1958. After Pancrazio's death in 1979 she unselfishly continued to dedicate her life to her children and family. Maria is survived by her daughter, Lili Boccanfuso (Neil); sons, Michael (Pamm), Marco (Debbie) and Victor; her grandchildren, Maria Banuelos (Reyes), Gina Boccanfuso, Victoria Weaver (Greg), Matthew Vuoso (Amanda), John Vuoso, Marc Vuoso and Eric Vuoso. They all carry long lasting memories of their "Nonna" and her humorous sayings. Maria had one great grandchild, Diego Banuelos. Also surviving her are her step sons, Joseph Vuoso (Diane) and Frank Vuoso (Violet); and their children, Anthony (Shari), Paul (Sara), and Stephen. Also, step grandchildren, Frank Vuoso (Gloria) and Jenni Merges (Dan). Also survived by her sister-in-law and traveling companion Mrs. Raffaele DeLuca. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pancrazio (1979); her son, George (2009); her granddaughter, Marisa (1993); and step son, Nick (1969). We cannot neglect to mention Cecilia and Carla, who were companions to our mother during the past 2 years and grew to become her friends. Finally, Patti and Tess, we knew you for 3 short days but the acts of compassion you showed our mother will never be forgotten. Maria would wish to be remembered as a simple woman with a great devotion to her family, the blessed rosary, Our Lady of Pompeii and Padre Pio. May she rest in peace with heavenly angels. "In Paradisum" Mama. Services are as follows: Viewing at Green Hills Memorial Park on Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church San Pedro, CA. Dear Vuoso Family,
Frank and I feel and realize there is nothing that can be said as far what you are feeling. She was a good person and raised a loving family. As I said before I feel like you are my extended family. Again our love and heartfelt sympathy. Please know George and your Dad will guide her to God whose arms are wide open waiting to welcome her to everlasting peace. Our prayers are also with you and hope you know that you where eveything she could have ever wanted. Take peace in knowing she is watching over you and will help you get through this time. Love Frank and Rene Lindsay

My sincerest and most heartfelt condo-
lences to the Vuoso family on the passing
of your dear mother Maria;my prayers and
thoughts are with you all. Though we are
separated by distance,many happy memories
remain of our times together in San Pedro
along with my own dearly departed mother
Maria Avolio Oliveri, who grew up together
with Maria Vuoso on the island of Ischia.
They were best of friends, and more like
sisters to one another. One of my many
favorite stories about their childhood
together,is my own mom's account of the
times she and Mrs.Vuoso sat on the ponte,
the bridge,connecting the "Castello Ara-
gonese" and the island itself, enjoying a
snack of fresh-cut lemons sprinkled with
sugar, either at midafternoon or under the
glow of moonlight,as they gazed upon the
ocean liners bound for America, and dream-
ed about what it would be like to cross
the seas! Indeed, much to our good fortune
they both did,and raised splendid famili-
es,and blessed us all with their shining
Catholic faith,and quiet dignity. They
will be missed, but heaven has indeed now
acquired a treasure. May Maria and all
our departed loved ones find light and
peace in their heavenly reward,as they
pray for us all here below, still on our
pilgrimage to The Lord. Requiescat in
Pace! In Unity,Valentino V. Oliveri

Dear Mike, Pamm & family,
I was sad to hear of your loss. It doesn't matter how old a parent is it's still heart breaking to lose someone who was so dearly loved, as your mother was.
May the memory of her goodness stay in your heart for ever.
Respectfully,
Anita Rylander

Cara Famiglia of Maria! Your loss is great and we also feel it deeply. We each have so many memories of our dear Comara! We will cherish them forever and remember her every thoughtful gesture, kind words, sage advise, joyful laughter, beautiful smile, bright eyes, gentle voice, the visits to her warm and welcoming home and the wonderful times spent in her company. Our lives are richer and our memories many because Comara Maria was a part of them. God bless and comfort each of you! Your Christmas Angel wants you to live in happiness and health! With deepest sympathy and much love, Comara Frances, Compare Eugenio, Rina, Mike & family, Jude, Tracy & family
