Matthew Rutter

Matthew Carl Rutter
Passed away on August 27, 2013 in San Pedro, CA. He was deeply loved by his family - his mother, Chris, and his father, David, his stepfather, Ren#233;, and stepmother, Gloria, his brother, David, and sisters, Sharon and Kristen, his three nieces, Mia, Isa, and Joely, his nephew, Jake, his stepsister, Kim and his aunts, Connie and Therese. Matt was born in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania on June 23, 1964; in 1974 his family moved to California, where he grew up and graduated from Westlake High School. After High School he attended college and most recently worked for the California Department of Public Health as an "indispensable" Sanitary Engineer Technician. He was an avid movie fan, with a keen interest in computers and emerging technology; he is well-known for developing several successful early video games, including the popular Stellar Shuttle. Our Matt will be remembered for his considerate and kind personality, his fabulous photos that documented all our family activities, the gifts he gave that were so thoughtful and the immeasurable joy he brought to his family, particularly to his nieces, who were the love of his life. Mia, Isa, Joely and Jake adored their Uncle Matt. He was always the one that they couldn't wait to see, full of fun, crazy ideas and activities, unconditional love, friendship and respect. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Matt's name to Big Brother Big Sister of Greater Los Angeles, www.bbbslaie.org or to a charity that benefits children.
