Peggy Minor, age 83, of Palos Verdes Peninsula, passed away on February 1, 2013. Peggy was born in Rockwall, Texas and grew up in Gilbert, Arizona. She had a sharp mind and earned a scholarship in journalism at Arizona State University. She decided to forgo college and married her high school sweetheart. They had two daughters, Laura and Linda. Peggy had an excellent work ethic and a way with people, not surprisingly, she worked her way up to become the first female trust officer of Valley National Bank. In 1966 she moved to California and was hired by the Rolling Hills Community Association in 1967. In 1980 she was appointed to association manager. She generously gave her time to the community. Her matter-of-fact style made her a trusted friend to the many people who sought her advice. She was happy to help solve any problem that was presented to her. Peggy was young at heart, who made sure that the association office was a friendly environment for all ages. Kids often stopped by to get a gumball out of the gumball machine next to her office and say hello to "Grandma Peggy". She retired from the RHCA in 2007. Peggy's generosity reached beyond Rolling Hills. She was a founding member of the Alpine Angels, a group formed to raise funds for a Christian summer camp in Alpine, California. She regularly volunteered at the Alpine Attic Thrift Shop in Lomita on weekends. Peggy is survived by her sister, Judy Carmen and two daughters. She was a true friend to many and will be remembered for her selfless service, sage wisdom and generous nature. A celebration of life will be held for Peggy at the Rolling Hills Community Association on Saturday, March 16 at 11:00 a.m. at 1 Portuguese Bend Road, Rolling Hills. Please sign the guestbook
