Slavko "Jere" Pijuk
Our dearly beloved uncle and brother-in-law, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2013. He had just turned 65. He was a very special man who touched many lives. His enthusiasm, kindness, and sense of humor will greatly be missed. Slavko was born in Bogatici (Drnis), Croatia on July 30, 1948 to Mile and Neda Pijuk. His sister Dragica Odak predeceased him. As a child, Jere grew up in Croatia. He was a man of many trades. At the young age of 18, he proudly served in the army for a 2 year term. During this time, he became a skilled bus driver which assisted him in landing a job for the city bus line in Split, Croatia. Using his many talents, he also became a controller handling the finances for the bus company. Slavko was a hardworking longshoreman for over twenty years. Proud to become an American citizen, Slavko lived the American dream. Although he endured many hardships throughout his life, Slavko always made the best of it with a smile on his face. He loved his family dearly and dedicated his life to making his parents, sister, brother-in-law, and niece all very happy and proud of him. Slavko is now in Heaven with his mother, father, and dear sister. He will rest in peace next to them at St. Martin Church in Mratovo, Croatia. Slavko is survived by his niece Ivana Odak Hazboun (wife of Alex Hazboun), brother-in-law Dragi Odak, many cousins, and loving friends. Please sign the guestbook at mcnerneysmortuary.com.
