Albertine Musch Obituary

Albertine (Mona) Musch, a South Bay resident for nearly 50 years, passed away on December 3, 2010 in the city of Torrance. Born in Java, Indonesia, Mona was 81 years old when she died. Mona was a young adult when she, her husband and young daughter emigrated from Indonesia to the Netherlands where they lived for a short time before she gave birth to another daughter. In the early 1960s the whole family jumped on a ship and sailed across the ocean to make a new home in the United States of America. In 1962 her youngest daughter was born. After renting several homes in Lennox, Hawthorne and Lawndale, Mona and her family eventually bought a home and settled in the El Camino Village area of Gardena. In 1967, she proudly took the oath and was sworn in as a citizen of the United States. Mona was a hard-working woman who labored most of her adult life to support her 3 girls. Amongst other employers, she worked the longest at Pearson Candy Company in Culver City as a machinist, USSCO in Torrance as a precision-honer and grinder and completed her working career in retail as an employee of Sav-On Drugs/CVS store in Lawndale. She had many hobbies. Mona loved to travel, take road trips, host dinner parties and barbecues. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, beading jewelry, knitting, crocheting and sewing and especially loved listening to Michael Buble'. She was a driver; if it needed to be done, and she didn't know how, she would learn to do it and get it accomplished. She touched the lives of many, many people throughout her 81 years on this earth and we all will miss her dearly. Mona is survived by her younger brother, Dirk; her three daughters, Valerie, Gaby and Cindy; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in her honor at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd., in Torrance, CA 90503 on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 12:00 noon with a reception immediately following.
