Beverly Simone Obituary

"Bev", 69, a 40-year resident of Hawthorne CA, passed into eternal life, November 16th 2010 in Inglewood, CA. She was born July 7, 1941, in Dublin, Texas to Archibald Artimas Howell, Jr. and Daisy Yvonne Wood. She attended S. Illinois University High, Class of 1959 and S. Illinois University as an art major. As part of an Air Force family Beverly lived in numerous places across the U.S. She was employed at Northrop in the mail room, as a playground supervisor at Washington Elementary, librarian at Leuzinger H.S., a member of the Hawthorne Community Club, Hawthorne PTA, and served as PTA president for several years. Beverly married Antonio (Tony) Simone, September 4, 1961. It's said that behind every great man is a great woman. Beverly was definitely that woman. Honest yet kind, she guided her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher and friend. She held her head high through times that would make lesser hearts give up. She had a profound influence on young and old alike. When all it takes to succeed is to have someone believe in you, she was that someone. She encouraged that in all children as well as her own, because she loved all children. Beverly is survived by her spouse, Antonio (Tony) Simone; their 3 children, Antonio (Tony) F. Simone, Teresa A. Ollom and Joseph M. Simone; son-in-law, John Ollom; 3 grandchildren, Jessica K. Cabello and Aiden and Christian Ollom; her siste, Carol A. Moore; aunt, Mary Joyner; and uncle, Charles Joyner. Beverly was predeceased by her son, Michael Howell Simone. Funeral services: Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 11am. Name of Officiant: Pastor Lance Bolorah. Place of Eternal Rest and funeral home: Holy Cross Cemetery, 5835 W Slauson Avenue, Culver City, CA 90230, 310-836-5500. Loved by many and missed by all, but in the end don't worry, as she would always say "I am fine". Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.

Her library was a warm and welcoming place because of her. I would often stop by for a brief chat and a great smile in the midst of a busy day. My thoughts are with you.

Beverly did such a wonderful job at Leuzinger High School library, making all feel welcome while encouraging students to read and do research. She always had a friendly word for faculty who stopped by. It was a very big and taxing job and yet she did a great job and yet had a smile for all. She holds a special place in so many hearts of Leuzinger students and staff. Prayers are with the Simones as we share their grief.

To Beverly, you will be missed by all who knew you and the wisdom you gave to so many will be told all the time. I miss you and loved you in life and will still love you and your teachings now that you are gone. You will never be forgotten. To the family I know that every day without Beverly is sad but she would have something clever to say. I am very sorry for you loss may your hearts be filled with knowing how many will miss your loved one with you. Love Lorraine Kallios (Martin)
