Rev. C. Joe Bellamy Obituary
Rev. C. Joe Bellamy

Rev. C. Joe Bellamy, pastor of South Bay Church of God, 1975 to 1994, passed away November 1, 2013 in Glendale, AZ. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 11 a.m. at South Bay Church of God, 17661 Yukon Avenue, Torrance, CA. Rev. Bellamy was born in Ashland, Kentucky, August 16, 1923. He grew up with 5 brothers and 3 sisters, mother Mary and father Daniel. He spent 3 years in the Army in World War II. Rev. Bellamy graduated from Anderson University and later attended Theological Seminary. He pastored churches in California, Kansas, and Florida. In 1960 he was newcaster of a Christian radio station in Ohio. In 1971, he went to California to work for the Christian Brotherhood Hour International Radio program for the Church of God. While at South Bay Church of God, he led a major building program that included a gymnasium and new youth center. He started the bus ministry in order to bring children to Sunday School and the food pantry for the needy. He joined the Lawndale Rotary Club in 1976, and was an active member until 2006 when he moved from the area. He served as Rotary president two times during those years and was involved in community service at home and abroad. He was a Major Donor to the Rotary Foundation. It would be impossible to quantify many areas of Pastor Bellamy's ministry at South Bay. For 19 years he led by example and carried his calling with dignity and honor. It is evident in the lives of those who have long ago moved away and still refer to him as "their Pastor". His wisdom, consecrated life, and years of experience have made an eternal difference in many lives. Surviving him are his wife Charlotte, son David (Linda), daughter Teri (Larry), step-son Ted (Jill), grandsons Adam (Angela), Ryan (Gabi), Sean (Kristin), Sam, and granddaughter Grace. One great grandson, Wesley, will be born in a few days. Many nieces and nephews survive, including Dan Bellamy (Robin). Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
