Carl Eugene Gimenez
Carl passed away in his home on Sept. 28, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in August, 2013. Carl was born April 17, 1935 in Torrance, CA, where he lived most of his life. Carl is survived by his loving, dedicated wife of 56 years, Joan (Cookie), their three children: Rick (Denise), Robin (Joe), Julie, and four grandchildren: Jade, Chris, Matt, and Luci. Carl graduated from Narbonne High School in 1953. He then entered the
and served in Germany. Upon return, he met and married Joan Philp on Sept. 20, 1957. Carl entered the ILWU Local 13 family in 1957, then in 1967 entered Local 94, Foreman's Union, where he worked and laughed among friends until he retired in 1997. Carl's many interests were gymnastics, water skiing, motor sports, gambling, and world cup soccer. Most of all he enjoyed deep sea fishing on his boat he named after his wife (Jonee) at his home away from home, Zihuatanejo, Mexico, where he was considered a true local. Carlos will be missed by many. Carl lived life on his own terms and died the same way, now he is at peace. Private services will be held. in lieu of flowers, a donation to your favorite cancer charity, would be greatly appreciated. Please sign the guestbook at
