Donald Drew Scott

Donald Drew Scott passed away on May 18, 2013 at home in San Pedro surrounded by his family. He was born in Los Angeles on July 29, 1931 to Franklin and Gertrude Scott. Don spent his entire life in San Pedro, except when he was stationed in Texas and Germany during the Korean War. He was a respected educator with the LAUSD for 33 years, serving schools in San Pedro, Carson, Gardena and throughout South Los Angeles. After retiring he taught folk dancing at Park Western Elementary until the year before his death. He was a lifelong and vital member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in San Pedro. Most importantly, he was a loving and beloved family man. He leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Long Scott, his daughters, Cathy (Art) Skubik and Chris (Steve) Scandura; his son, Doug (Rebecca) Scott, and grandchildren, Caroline Skubik, Kate, Nick and Sophie Scandura, and Naomi and Leah Scott. He is also survived by his twin brother, Phil (Doris) Scott and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 1648 W. 9th Street in San Pedro on Saturday, May 25 at 4:00 PM.
