Dorotha Moore Obituary

Dorotha "Dottie" Joan Moore, formerly a 44-year resident of Rancho Palos Verdes, passed away on December 3, 2010, at the age of 77. After spending 56 years together in marriage, she died just three months after her beloved husband Stan. Dottie was born in New York on February 22, 1933. She met Stan on Catalina Island and they married on February 13, 1954. Shortly after the birth of their first child, Brad, she contracted polio. With great personal strength and determination, and despite a poor prognosis, within a year of her illness, Dottie successfully rehabilitated. She went on to have her beloved daughter Carole and was able to live an active life. She devoted herself to the role of wife and mother, enjoyed maintaining a lovely home for her family, and supported her daughter and husband in their respective careers, which gave her much personal pride and satisfaction. Dottie and Stan spent the last seven years retired in Bullhead City, Arizona, where they enjoyed spending time with many friends, in a climate that supported her health requirements. Dottie is survived by her loving children, Brad Moore and Carole Ellestad, both of Rancho Palos Verdes. She was immensely proud of her two granddaughters, Katie Moore (Olympia, WA) and Lori Moore (Los Angeles), who gave her such pleasure from the moments they were born, and dearly loved her son-in-law, Boyd Ellestad and daughter-in-law, Paula Moore. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute (LA BioMed), attn: Office of Institutional Advancement, 1124 W. Carson Street, Torrance, CA 90502; or FRIENDS of Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, 3720 Stephen M. White Drive, San Pedro, CA 90731. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.

Dear Family,
Dottie and Stan were a wonderful couple. They had darling personalities
and they loved to laugh. We were priviledged to have met them. It was very endearing that Stan took care of his wife. God bless you.
Love,
