Edwin Venable

Edwin Venable, 87, died on June 26, 2012 at his Santa Barbara home in the company of his family. Married to Betty for 69 years, Ed served in World War II as a Navy signal corpsman stationed in the Pacific and was an optometrist in Los Angeles. Ed served as Commodore of the King Harbor Yacht Club where he and Betty have been members for more than 50 years. Betty and Ed moved from Palos Verdes to Santa Barbara in 2001 where Ed was a volunteer at the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum and was the "Captain" of the Ranger. He is survived by his wife, Betty; their daughter, Susan Venable and her husband, Charles Vinick; granddaughter, Maren Scheurer and her husband Luka, and great granddaughter, Samantha. A memorial celebration of Ed's life is being planned. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Visiting Nurses and Hospice, to which the family is very grateful.
