Eileen Coyne Kapp, of Rancho Palos Verdes, died peacefully in Bakersfield, CA on December 22, 2012. Eileen was born in New York City to John and Mary Coyne on December 27, 1936. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount St. Vincent in New York. She went on to earn a Master of Arts degree from Hunter College where she focused on education. She married her beloved husband, Edward Kapp, on July 14, 1962 and moved to Los Angeles, CA shortly after. Eileen was a lifelong educator with the Los Angeles Unified School District in the Adult School Division, as well as at Harbor College and Cal State Dominguez Hills. Teaching was more than just a job for Eileen; it was a ministry. She enjoyed helping parents to learn parenting techniques and encouraging them to be an active participant in their child's development. Eileen enjoyed traveling, reading, playing the piano and spending time with her friends. Her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her husband, Edward; her sons, Stephen and Lawrence; her daughter, Mary, as well as her sister, Nora Hahn of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren. Eileen was buried in Bakersfield, CA. A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Trinity Church, San Pedro on February 2, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center.
